Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp double-acting baking powder
- 1/4 tsp of baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees C.
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl with fork.
- With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; add buttermilk.
- Mix, quickly, JUST until mixture forms soft dough that leaves side of bowl.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface, knead about 6 strokes to mix thoroughly.
- Use a biscuit cutter, using a straight downward motion, w/o twisting.
- Press dough trimmings together and cut, to use all the dough.
- Place them all on a non greased baking pan.
- Bake 12-15 minutes, or until golden.
